OXFORD JUNCTION - Funeral service was held Thursday afternoon at two o'clock for Elmer E. Phillips, 80, in the Methodist church. Service was conducted by Rev. William E. Strait, Olin. Floral offerings were arranged by Mrs. Ed Clausen, Mrs. James Kotlinek and Mrs. George Cress. Hymns were sung by Mrs. Fred Lasack and Mrs. Fred Sacora, accompanied by Mrs. George Shimerda. Pallbearers were Ed Leffingwell, Charles Sheldon, Fred Harms, John Burda, Joseph Kulhavy, and Raymond Mizaur.

Service at Mayflower cemetery was in charge of the Zealous Lodge, A.F. and A. M., Oxford Junction. Three members from the Albany Lodge of Albany, Ill., of which the deceased was a member for 59 years, were present. They were Bart Parker, Fred Schnyder and Mr. White.

Mr. Phillips died at his home Monday evening following a long illness. He was born at Albany, Ill., Feb. 9, 1866, son of Mr. and Mrs. Von Phillips. He was united in marriage to Jennie Winans, Albany, June 5, 1895, and they came to Oxford Junction to make their home, where they have resided 50 years.

Mr. Phillips had been a stock buyer here for many years. He had been active in all civic affairs, having served 20 years on the school board and several terms as a member of the town council. He is survived by his wife, one son, Edd, a granddaughter, Mary Jane, Grinnell; a niece, Elizabeth Lockard Phillips, Loman, Mont., who was reared in the Phillips home as a foster daughter; sister, Mrs. Kitty Lathrop, Mount Vernon, and a brother, John, Denver, Colo.
