Funeral service for Mrs. Louisa Pillard, 81, who died Tuesday, May 14, at her home in Anamosa, was held Friday afternoon at the First Congregational church. Rev. Homer E. Dalrymple was the officiating minister. Interment was made in Riverside cemetery. Smykil Home for Funerals was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Louisa Kemling Pillard was born in Mosalem township near Dubuque, Iowa, April 12, 1865. She was one of seven children born to Lorenz and Theresa Becker Kemling. Her parents came from the province of Hanover, Germany.

In 1894 she was united in marriage to Henry Pillard. Five boys and three girls were born to the union. In 1911, after living a number of years in Delaware and Linn counties, the family came to Jones county on a farm near Anamosa. Mr. Pillard died in 1931, and she moved to town in 1935, where she lived until her death.

Surviving are her three daughters: Theresa, Mrs. Carlys Payne, Anamosa; Lucy, Mrs. Cecil James, Wyoming, and Ida, Mrs. Carl Folkers, Scotch Grove; four sons, Elmo, Henry, Emil and Frank Pillard, all of Anamosa; a brother, Lawrence Kemling, Dubuque, and 20 grandchildren. One son, Lawrence Pillard, died a year ago.
