HALE - Mrs. Chris Paulsen (nee Kathrine Hansen) was born Oct. 3, 1879, at Husum, Germany. Her girlhood days were spent in the parental home in her native country. In 1905 she came to America and on July 2, arrived in Jones county.

Oct. 27, 1906 she was united in marriage to Chris Paulsen and together they spent almost 40 years of married life on the farm and in retirement in Hale. Mrs. Paulsen had been ill for three years.

Survivors are her husband, Chris Paulsen, an adopted daughter, Mrs. Leola Ahrendsen, and two grandsons, Richard and Harold Ahrendsen; a brother, John Hansen, Wyoming; a sister, Mrs. Thomas Hendrickson, Morley. Four brothers remained in Germany. Their whereabouts are not known.

Mrs. Paulsen was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Death came Sunday morning, April 7.

Service was held Tuesday, April 9, at the Harrington funeral home, with Rev. Herbert Graening, officiating. Pianist was Mrs. Luella Bahnsen. Singers were Mrs. Leonard Hartwig and Mrs. Otto Koranda.

Burial was made in the Wyoming cemetery. Casket bearers were John Petersen, Henry Nissen, Hans Ketelsen, Lawrence Petersen, Thomas Brodersen and Chris Hansen.
