25 October 1945 - The Anamosa Journal

MORLEY - Funeral service was conducted at the Center church Sunday afternoon for Will Hughes, who was brought here for burial from Canada. He was born and reared in this community and later he went to Canada where he enlisted and served with the Canadian army in the first world war. He was gassed and shell shocked and has been confined to a veterans' hospital for a number of years. Mr. Hughes was 82 years of age, and the brother of Mrs. Jennie Miller, Mrs. Frank Wells and Mrs. Henry Sampica, Marion. Service was in charge of Rev. Samuel Weaver. The Arthur McCullough post of the American Legion was represented. Pall bearers were Wilson Gilmore, Newton Hollingsworth, C. W. Werzbacher, Elsworth Tallman, Evert Cook and Harvey Northy, old school friends of the deceased. Burial was in the Center cemetery.
