Funeral service for Edgar Merton Hanna, 70, who died of a cerebral hemorrhage Saturday at his home in Waubek, was held at the Methodist church there Tuesday afternoon. Rev. Lusted officiated. Mrs. Vincent Owen sang, accompanied by Miss Florence Hale. Casketbearers were Kelsey Hanna, Clarence Hanna, Ray Fairbanks, Glenn Russell, Burton Brown and Lowell Black. Burial was made in the Cass cemetery. Smykil Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Edgar Merton Hanna was born in Cass township in Jones Co., March 21, 1875.

He was the son of Presley and Melvina Black Hanna, and spent the first 41 years of his life on the home place.

Aug. 27, 1901, Mr. Hanna was united in marriage to Louie Mitchell, and they established their home on the farm in the Cass community. To them were born four children: Naomi, Mrs. Michael Sweet, Central City; Presley Hanna, Anamosa; Sherman Hanna, Mount Vernon; and Robert Hanna, Springville. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren. Mr. Hanna has one brother, Jes Hanna, living at East Grand Forks, Minn.

Deceased has been a farmer all his life and had retired to live in Waubeek. But, when the war came, and workers were so urgently needed, Mr. Hanna volunteered for war work and for three years was employed by the Fruehauf Trailer Co. in Cedar Rapids.

Mr. Hanna was a member of the Cass Congregational church and a member of the Modern Woodmen of America.
