Mrs. Thomas Petersen, 82, of Oxford Junction, mother of Mrs. Sylvester Benischek of Tipton, died Sept. 1 in the Jackson County Public hospital, Maquoketa.

Services were held Sept. 4 in Oxford Junction.

The former Matilda Ahrendsen was born in Germany in 1883 and came to this country with her parents. She married Mr. Petersen in Wyoming in 1904 and the couple farmed in the area until 1946 when they retired.

He preceded her in death.

Surviving are 3 sons, Hans H. and Martin, both of Oxford Junction, and Otto, Cedar Rapids; 2 daughters, Mrs. Jens Latare, Oxford Junction, and Mrs. Sylvester Benischek, Tipton; 9 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Mrs. Thomas Cartensen and Mrs. Martin Petersen, both of Oxford Junction.
