OLIN--Gordon Harry Sawyer, 79, died Sunday, April 28, at Mercy hospital, Anamosa.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 1, at the Hayden Funeral home, Olin. Rev. John Schlosser officiated at the service. Burial was in White Oak cemetery.

Mrs. George Wooder, Morley, was soloist. Mrs. Elna Rohwedder was pianist.

He was born Nov. 5, 1883, son of Edwin and Mary Catherine Miller Sawyer, Greenfield township. He attended school at Council Bluffs. Following graduation he started farming on the farm where he was born and lived his entire life there.

Jan. 4, 1917, he was married to Sarah Isabelle Plummer, Barnsville, Minn. He was a member of White Oak Evangelical church. After the closing of the White Oak church he became affiliated with the Morley Methodist church.

Survivors include his wife, Belle; a daughter, Irene, Mrs. Merle Ballou; and four grandchildren, Linda, James, Steven and Pamela Ballou.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
