Eunice Appleby, 91, of Wellman, formerly of Monticello, died Tuesday morning, March 5, 2002, in Mercy Iowa City after an extended illness. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello. Burial: Monticello East Cemetery. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. Howard Innis will officiate.

Surviving are three daughters, Audrey Lloyd of Olathe, Kan., Joyce Bemrose of Monticello and Pearl Van Voltenberg of Kinross.

Also surviving are nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson, a great-grandson, a brother and two sisters.

Eunice Grover was born Nov. 29, 1910, in Jones County, Iowa, was the daughter of Ira and Josephine Starks Grove. Eunice received her education in the Monticello area schools. She married Aubrey Appleby in 1928 at Monticello, Iowa. Eunice worked at Hoag Duster, Monticello Produce and was also a waitress.

Aubrey preceded her in death in 1984.

Eunice moved to Fairfield and later Kinross in 1996 and to the care center in Wellman in 1997.
