Herman Hintz

Herman Hintz, 79, of Oxford Junction, died Friday, Oct. 5, in Jackson County Public Hospital, Maquoketa. He had been a resident of Jensen Custodial Home, Maquoketa, since June. Services were conducted Monday in St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Oxford Junction, by the Rev. Eric Kutzli. Burial was in Massillon Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Bryan, Rick and Lynn Petersen, Jerry and Larry Hintz and Lloyd Lorenzen.

Mr. Hintz was born near Battle Creek Oct. 23, 1904, to Peter and Caroline Clausen Hintz. He attended rural Ida County schools and moved to Jones County in 1928. He and Anna Lorenzen were married Feb. 17, 1931, at Wyoming. Mr. Hintz worked on farms near Oxford Junction and Wyoming until he was employed by Soppe Implement Co., Oxford Junction He began working for Clinton Engines Co., Maquoketa, in 1951 and from 1966 until retiring in 1971 he was a maintenance man for the City of Oxford Junction. He served on the Oxford Junction City Council and was a member of the town's volunteer fire department. He was a former member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge.

Survivors are one brother, Carl of Holstein, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1982, one brother and his parents.
