SHOVER, ARDUSER, SILL, PETERSEN, THOMPSON, MILLER

Monticello Express, 13. July 1959

JOHN A. SHOVER. 85, former resident of Monticello, and prominent farmer of Delaware county and the Manchester community died at the Delaware county Memorial hospital Friday evening, following a brief illness.

Funeral services for Mr. Shover will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday July 13 at the Golden Congregational church south of Manchester. Rev. John Christy, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will be at Oakwood cemetery in Monticello. The Shelly Funeral home of Manchester is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Shover is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Albert Sill of Manchester; four grandchildren, John H. Sill, Hopkinton; Albert Sill Jr., Seattle, Washington; Richard L. Sill of Manchester and Mrs. John Petersen of Milwaukee Wis.; 9 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Mrs. Clyde Thompson, Manchester and four brothers, Frank, Rueben, Tom and Fred Shover, all of Monticello. He was preceded in death by his wife May 22, 1940 and two brothers, William and James.

He was the son of John Shover and Mary Jane Miller Shover, and was born May 16, 1874 at Monticello in Richland township. He grew to young manhood on a farm there and received his education in the rural schools; later farmed on the home farm. He was united in marriage March 3, 1896 to Verena Arduser at Monticello, and they farmed actively in Hazel Green township in Delaware county, for many years until their retirement.

Since the death of his wife he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Sill.
