The funeral of Donald Dirks, 49, Monmouth, was held at Zion American Lutheran church in Wyoming Thursday, Aug 3, at 11 a.m. Burial was in Wyoming cemetery.

Mr. Dirks died suddenly Monday, July 31, at Delaware county memorial hospital in Manchester. He was born in Jones County near Olin on Nov 2, 1929, the son of Garret and Catherine Husmann Dirks. He attended Wyoming school. He was married to Mary Hansen on July 26, 1952 in Iowa City.

He served in the United States Air Force for two years and was employed with C.H. Pollmiller and Sons, Inc. of Davenport.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Joe (Debbie) Hronik of Walcott, and Sharon, at home; three sons, Dan of Cedar Rapids and Jeff and Steve at home; two grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Kate Dirks, Wyoming; three sisters, Mrs. Leon (Florence) Baldwin and Mrs. Dorothy Hurst, both of Wyoming, and Mrs. Clarence (Geri) Yock of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, LeRoy and Clifford, both of Wyoming.
