Maynard Calvin Gordon, 57, died Nov. 27 at his home in Olin following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Gordon, son of John and Mabel Porter Gordon, was born in Olin, Feb. 20, 1910 and lived his entire life in the Olin community. He attended the Olin school, graduating in 1923.

April 11, 1934 he was united in marriage to Ethel Mae Clemmins, at Aledo, Ill. Three sons were born to this union.

Mr. Gordon worked for his father in the hardware and implement business until his father's death in 1946 at which time he assumed management of the business and continued in business in Olin until poor health forced his retirement a year ago. He served on the town council for several years.

Mr. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a son.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel Mae; 2 sons Larry G. Gordon, Olin, and Mark John Gordon, at home; 2 granddaughters, Jane Anne and Jean Ellen Gordon.

A family prayer service was held at the Hayden Funeral Home in Olin at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 30 with memorial services in the Olin E. U. B. church at 2 p.m. Rev. Lloyd Dutro, pastor, was in charge.

Soloist was Judy Story and organist was Mrs. Galen Alexander. E.U.B. Ladies Aid was in charge of the flowers. Casket bearers were Gilbert Jones, Gene Pauli, Fred Hefflefinger, Edmond Sealls and Omar Vrooman. Burial was in the Olin cemetery.
