Funeral services for Jess L. Boots, 52, a former resident of Hopkinton, who passed away at his home in Cedar Rapids Thursday afternoon, Feb. 26, following a lingering illness, were held at the Methodist Church in Hopkinton Monday afternoon at 3:30 Rev. William C. Porter, Cedar Rapids, officiated. Burial was in the Hopkinton Cemetery.

Boots was born in Anamosa April 1, 1889, and spent his early life in that vicinity. March 25, 1912 he was married at Davenport to Mrs. Lillie Landers. Following their marriage they went to South Dakota where they lived until 1915 when the removed to Hopkinton. Two years ago the famimly went to Cedar Rapids to make their home. While here he was employed as a carpenter and for several years a clerk in the late L. Beitz grocery.

Surviving are his wife and two adopted children, Sargeant Forest D. Boots, San Diego, Calif., and Ilo Boots, at home; four brothers, Ellis N. Boots, Cedar Rapids; Bert J. Boots, Charlson, N.D.; Roy M. Boots, Prairieburg, and J.R. Boots, Hopkinton.
