23 August 1906 - The Clarence Sun

Olin Recorder - A dark cloud of gloom and sorrow overshadowed the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Emerson, who lives about three miles northwest of town last Sunday, when their baby boy was found dead in a water tank at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Brady, where the family were visiting. The little one had been playing about the premises with other children, and it is thought started to follow his grandfather, who had gone to the barn. A short time after he had gone, Mr. George Voorhies, who was also a visitor at the Brady home, took his team to the tank before hitching them up, and was startled to find the little boy lying in the water in the tank. A physician was hastily summoned but to no avail as the life had passed out of the little body before it had been discovered. He had presumably climbed upon the tank and fallen in and being unable to get out, was soon drowned.
