Hip Is Injured
Monticello, Ia. October 14, 1930 – SPECIAL: O. F. Hosford, a pioneer, resident of Jones County, and who since the death of his wife a few years ago, has made his home with his son, Sprague Hosford in Castle Grove Township six miles west of town, had the misfortune to slip and fall on the cement steps leading from the house, fracturing the hip bone on the right side.
Mr. Hosford was brought to the John McDonald Hospital here where he is being cared for.
Mr. Hosford is the son of Samuel J. and Pauline Palmer Hosford and came to Jones County in 1863 with his parents, where the senior Hosford bought 3,000 acres of land which in later years became very valuable.
Mr. Hosford is around 90 years of age but is in fairly good health considering his advanced age. He has been a resident of Jones County for 67 years. In 1900 he gave up the management of the Castle Grove farm and removed with his wife to Monticello.
