Zachariah Shearer and his wife Cynthia Harris Shearer were originally from Estill Co., Kentucky. They moved to Iowa before the Civil War. Four of their children were born in Kentucky and the fifth child in Iowa. Would like to know what happened to the family, particularly Zack's death date. He has a memorial page in Find A Grave but no dates.

Zack served in the 22nd Iowa Infantry during the Civil War. He also served in the 1st Kentucky Cavalry during the Mexican War.

My connection to him is through his wife's family. Three of Cynthia's siblings married three siblings of my maternal grandmother's ancestors (her grandfather, and two half grand-aunts).
