Michael Richard Beelner, 72, of Remsen, Iowa, passed away on September 6th, 2022 at Lantern Park Speciality Care in Coralville, Iowa.

Mike was born in LeMars, Iowa on September 2nd, 1950 to Richard Beelner and Marion (Nothem) Beelner. He graduated from Remsen St Mary’s Catholic High School in 1968. He attended Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City, Iowa. Mike served in the U.S. Navy and was drafted to Vietnam in 1970. On December 23rd, 1970, he married Audrey Mae Wurth at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, Iowa. Together they welcomed three children: Aaron Michael, Emily Lou, and Nicholas Wurth.

Mike was a life-long farmer who spent his time tending the fields as well as raising cattle and hogs. When he wasn’t behind the wheel of a tractor/combine or feeding his livestock; Mike enjoyed playing golf, shooting pool, playing cards and visiting with his friends at the local bars. He was a fantastic cook whose steaks, burgers, and “bacon-heavy” breakfasts left many a lasting impression. Mike loved making people laugh with his quick wit and sarcasm; he perfected the art of storytelling. He was a generous man, who would have given you the shirt off of his back. Any time spent with his grandchildren brought out the child in him. Ice-cream, Cheetos, M&M’s and re-runs of Mickey Mouse cartoons on his computer; Papa Mike, as his grandchildren referred to him, very rarely said no to anything.

Mike is survived by his children: Aaron Beelner (Terry) and his daughters Vica and Sienna Beelner of Marietta, Georgia, Emily Zubaid (Abdul) and their daughters Ameena and Leila Zubaid of North Liberty, Iowa, Nick Beelner (Chasity) and their children Audrea and Logan Beelner of North Liberty, Iowa; his brothers David, Patrick (Nora), Jeff, Richard Jr. (Patricia), Dan and only sister, Ann; mother-in-law, Doris Wurth; sister-in-laws, Mary (Kathleen) Wurth, Judy Majeres, Peg (Royce) Johnson, Jean Griffin, Marge (Tim) Dunn, Marilyn Wurth, and brother-in-law, Michael Wurth.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Marion, his wife, Audrey, his father in-law Louis Wurth, brother-in-laws, Wallace Griffin and Richard Majeres, sister-in-law, Arlin Wurth and niece, Danielle Beelner.

A burial service will be held at the Remsen Cemetery, Saturday, September 24th, 2022 at 3:00 pm followed by a Celebration of Life reception at the Mike and Audrey Beelner farmstead.
