Loras L. Steines, age 76, passed away June 27, 2022 at the Iowa City Veterans Hospital.

Loras was born July 31, 1945 in Maquoketa, Iowa, the son of Reinold J. Steines Sr. and Audrey (Helmle) Steines. Loras, after serving as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam, continued his service to the county by working as a machinist in several manufacturing areas including; Clinton Engines in Maquoketa, the Rock Island Arsenal in Rock Island, and John Deere Harvester in East Moline.

Loras is survived by family members of two children, seven brothers and four sisters. Sadly, he is preceded in death by his parents, Reinold J. Steines, Sr. and Audrey (Helmle) Steines; and four brothers and one sister.

A memorial Mass is scheduled for July 16th at 11 am at the Sacred Heart Church (200 S. Vermont St., Maquoketa, IA). A further celebration will be held after Mass at Michel’s Hall in Maquoketa, IA for family friends. Interment of his ashes will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa, Iowa. Memories and condolences can be expressed at Loras’ obituary at gayandciha.com .
