Tammie Lee Gaskill, 60, of Iowa City, passed from life on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at home surrounded by her mother, Katharine Gaskill and sisters, Kimberly and Amy Gaskill.

Tammie was born on December 17, 1960, in Iowa City, to Robert and Katharine Gaskill. She graduated from West High school Class of 1979 where she was the year book editor. Tammie continued her education at Iowa State University where she graduated in 1984 with a BA degree in Architecture.

Tammie was artistically talented. Her love of art reflected in her career and her personal crafts. Tammie held the Professional Project Manager (PMP) designation, and was employed by Hansen, Lind and Meyer, Johnson Controls, Honeywell and Cushman & Wakefield as a construction Project Management Consultant.

Tammie’s career led her to the east coast and the Gulf Coast. Tammie, eventually, made her home in New Orleans (Metairie) and created many lasting Mardi Gras memories for her family and friends. After Hurricane Katrina, Tammie relocated to her beach condo in Biloxi, Mississippi, where she could enjoy sea life, keeping the water fowl and birds very well fed; while enjoying her personal crafts of the fiber arts-needlework, crocheting and knitting. Tammie was also a collector of fine art sculptures that represented the re-birth of the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina.

Tammie will be missed by all for her gentle, quiet, compassionate nature and her kindness. Tammie always put others before herself.

To our “brown-eyed girl” – you were the best daughter, sister and aunt we could ask for and very much loved by your family.

Tammie is survived by her mother, Katharine Gaskill; her sisters, Kimberly and Amy Gaskill; her nieces, Kaydee Vraspier (KC Flynn) and Shelby Vraspier Schmidt (Bradley Schmidt); an uncle, aunts and several cousins.

Tammie was preceded in death by her father, Robert Gaskill.

Visitation will begin at 11am on Thursday, July 29th, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service. At 12:30pm, family and friends will be invited to formally share memories of Tammie. Refreshments will follow this time of sharing prior to the burial at the Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established to support causes that were important to Tammie.
