Jean Kasper of Iowa City passed away July 3, 2021, at age 87.

Jean was born May 11, 1934, and was preceded in death by her parents, John S. and Adela Kohout Kasper, and sister, Joyce.

Jean graduated from Iowa City High, University of Iowa, University of Illinois, and Roosevelt University. As a Professional Master Licensed Nursing Instructor she taught at the University of Illinois Research and Educational Hospitals, Northwestern University Wesley Memorial Hospital, Bethany Methodist Hospital, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Chicago Nursing Program, Iowa City Mercy Hospital, San Diego Doctors Hospital, San Francisco Hospital, and Kirkwood Community College. Jean also advised the VNA-Visiting Nurses Association and was a Reach to Recovery Volunteer.

Jean enjoyed global travel, Aspen skiing, tennis, golf, photography, Yoga, piano, gourmet cooking, mystery novels, St. Wenceslaus Church, Chicago high rise living, and her feline furbabies: Sherlock and Missy, Freddy and Maggie, and Buffy.

Jean was living comfortably at her Iowa City Legacy apartment until her passing. The family thanks the wonderful staff at Legacy for helping make Jean’s final years so relaxing and enjoyable; and thanks Rev. Gary Beckman of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church for his kind attention.

There will be no public visitation. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Iowa City on Thursday, July 8th, at 11:00 am, with burial to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Iowa City. Jean is survived by four nieces and a nephew and their families and tons of friends.
