Lisa Michelle (Downes) Eckhardt, 36, died peacefully at home after a spirited battle with Glioblastoma on Wednesday, May 12, 2021.

A celebration of Lisa’s life will be from 3:00-6:00 PM on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. Burial will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed toward the Eckhardt family in care of Andrew Eckhardt.

Lisa was born June 19, 1984 in Iowa City, the daughter of Greg and Teri (Keep) Downes. She graduated from Regina High School and Mount Mercy University with many wonderful friends. On October 1, 2011, she married her best friend Andrew Eckhardt. They were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Vaida Kaye, in 2017.

She will be missed by her loving husband, Andrew and daughter, Vaida; her parents Gregory and Dr. Teri Downes; her sister Christine and husband Jason Figg; brother-in-law Shawn and wife Carrie Coons; nephews Cohen, Hudson, Asa, Ben and niece Birti; godmother Jeanne Leo and grandmothers Elsie Keep and Lois Eckhardt; many loving uncles and aunts, especially Connie Turnipseed, who has been by her side for this battle.

Those who have gone before her are Bill and Kaye Eckhardt, Bob Keep, Jim and Celine Downes, Brian Downes, Chad Keep, and Brian Keep.
