Betty A. Calcote, 85 longtime resident of this area died Saturday, December 1, 2018 in the home she shared with her Daughter Judy. Betty had been suffering a long term lung illness following Breast Cancer.
　
Funeral services will be held 11:30 am Tuesday, December 4, 2018,at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, with burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be just prior to the services and also during a luncheon following the services. Betty Ann Dudansky was born April 27, 1933 in Thorpe, Wisconsin, the daughter of William and Leora Dudansky. Growing up in Thorpe she attended and graduated from high school there in 1951. On December 4, 1955 she married Gerald Calcote in Los Angeles, CA. She and her family have resided in Iowa for many years living in Clinton where they owned and operated the "Boot Wagon Shoe's Store until their divorce in 1974.She and the 4 children then moved to Iowa City where she worked at the University of Iowa Hospital as a Housekeeper in the Childrens Dept until her retirement in July of 1992. Betty loved intermixing with the children and to this day still received many Christmas Cards from family’s that came to know and love her over the years.
　
Betty enjoyed life to its fullest, her family, friends including longtime companion John Buckingham. She and John loved dancing and going to many places in the area just to "check it out" Going to the casino's was also a great past time.
　
Her family includes her children, Robin Gonzalez (Tony), Judy Terry (Dan Hoover), Mark Calcote (Janice)and Scott Calcote (Cindy); grandchildren, Kimberly Calcote, Jake Calcote, Marie Netser, Ashley Humpleby, Zachary Ellis, Scott Gaade(Ami), and Corey Gaade (Theresa); Betty’s siblings, Florence Wald, Leora Graski, and Geraldine Dudansky.
　
She was preceded in death by her parents and companion John Buckingham.
