Lloyd was born June 19, 1933 in Sherrill, Iowa the son of Edward and Martina (Kurt) Stecklein. He married Marian Drish on April 25, 1959 at St, Mary’s Catholic Church in Dubuque,

Bowdy met Punky at a roller rink in Dubuque, he was the best skater there. Dancing on skates turned into a whirlwind of a solid 59 years of marriage. Sure, there were ups and downs and bumps in the road, but that’s life. A large family and great parents has benefits. Lloyd always said, hard work, never hurt anybody, he’d state! Proud of his family, grandchildren, garden, friends he made while working for Moorman MFG Company and JCPH. He had terrific neighbor’s, and enjoyed cards, fishing, hunting, his Catholic Religion and he was the best story teller of all. My grandfather can fix anything in the whole wide world and fixing he did. Bowdy was always there to lend a hand, what more in Life do you want. He has earned his way and the pearl gates await. Remember me when I come into your kingdom, rejoice and be glad-so long Bowdy. Until our family all meets in heaven, work hard, keep smiling, chin up—Love to all.

Survivors include his wife, Marian; children, Rick Stecklein, of Bellevue, Brian (Joanna) Stecklein, of Flower Mound, TX, Scott (Terri) Stecklein, of Coralville, Shawn (Patti) Stecklein of Lost Nation, and Tina Stecklein of Maquoketa; nine grandchildren, Jeremy, Dana, Shannon, Shane, Katie, Dawn, Brianna, Autumn, and Jean-Luc; a great-grandchild, Dallas; siblings, Rolland (Theresa) Stecklein, Marina Lehman, Shirley (Gene) Hoffmann, Janie (Jim) Gorlirsch, Judy (Al) Westoff, and Eddie (Shirley) Stecklein; and a sister in-law, Barbara Stecklein; and numerous nieces and nephews.
