Helen E. Price, age 85, of Maquoketa, Iowa, died on Saturday evening, June 30, 2018 at her home in Maquoketa, Iowa.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no formal visitation or services. She donated her body to the University of Iowa Medical School at Iowa City, IA. As she said to her family, she "wanted to give back one last time."

Helen E. Price was born on December 4, 1932 in Wichita, Kansas, to Claude Elmer and Lenora Ellen (Terry) Thrush. She married Alvie Lee Price Sr. on August 18, 1947 in Anson, Texas. He preceded her in death on February 1, 1991.

Helen had run a daycare in Maquoketa for 14 years.

Helen is survived by her children, Clara Price of Davenport, IA, Mary (Chuck) Lane of Scoggins, TX, Cherry (Herb) Riley of Gun Barrell City, TX, Ruth (Scott) Knapp of TN, Alvie (Sally) Price Jr. of Kingwood, TX and Tammy (Joe) Ryan of Maquoketa, IA; 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 grandchildren, 1 brother and 4 sisters.
