Charles Mackey, an aged and respected citizen of Iowa City, died at his home on Johnson street at 2 o'clock Sunday morning, following a stroke of paralysis and apoplexy with which he was afflicted on the previous Monday.

Mr. Mackey was for a long time a resident farmer near Downey and retired from farm life a few years ago. The funeral services were held from the home Tuesday and interment at the Downey cemetery. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, three sons and two daughters.
