Lloyd John Meyer was born in Blue Hill, Nebraska, the son of Julius A. and Minnie Muhleisen Meyer. He graduated from Blue Hill High School in 1934. Lloyd and Ruth Gosnell were married on September 18, 1943 at the Christian Church in Iowa City. The couple lived and fared in the Bayertown community most of their married life.
Lloyd was a member of the Sharon Center United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of Fellowship Lodge of Sharon Center, a member of Corona Chapter OES #297, Johnson County Farm Bureau, two card clubs, the 39ers and a neighborhood club. Lloyd served as a trustee for Sharon Township for many years. He enjoyed playing cards at the Hills Community Center with friends every morning for years. Other enjoyments were deer hunting and playing with his great grandchildren.
Surviving Lloyd are his wife Ruth of Riverside, three sons, James Meyer of Riverside, Ronald Meyer of Riverside, Timothy Meyer of Iowa City, one granddaughter, Shellie Lynn Meyer and her friend Chad C. Miller. Also surviving are two great grandchildren, Carley Marie and Maverick Lloyd Miller, and one sister, Dorothy Hale of Tuscan, AZ. His parents, six brothers, Paul, Ervin, Ed, Melvin, Robert, and Dale, and two sisters, Frieda Sack and Margaret McMahan, preceded Lloyd in death.
A memorial has been established for Iowa City Hospice or the Sharon Center Church.
The family is very appreciative of all the many kindnesses extended tot hem during Lloyd's illness and at this time of their loss. May you all be blessed.
