Marcella Jane Dvorak Klein, 85, of rural Oxford died peacefully Saturday, March 17th at Briarwood Care Center surrounded by her family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM, Wednesday, March 21st at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Iowa City, with the Very Rev. Rudolph Juarez officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, where a rosary will be recited at 4PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Marcella Klein Memorial Fund.
Marcella was born February 7, 1933 on a farm near Cuba, Kansas, the daughter of Wesley and Mary Kasha Benyshek. Marcella married Edwin Dvorak on September 12, 1951 in Ely. He died on June 29, 1973. On September 18, 1976 Marcella married Cletus Klein.
Marcella was employed for over 30 years in central sterilizing at UIHC, retiring in 1995.
Marcella was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the Swisher American Legion Auxiliary, Union Township Women, Iowa City Eagle’s Auxiliary 695, and REAC Retired Eagles Activity Club. She helped to organize many of the activities for the groups she belonged to. Marcella liked music and dancing, and time spent crocheting and gardening. Most important to Marcella was her family.
Marcella is survived by her husband, Cletus; her children, Joyce (Michael) Kinney of New Jersey, Lu Ann Dvorak of Iowa City and David (Melody) Dvorak of Viola; step-children, Kevin (Mary) Klein of North Liberty, Keith (Kandi) Klein of Oxford, Sheila Klein and Tony Klein, both of Iowa City; ten grandchildren, Bradley (Alana) Beyer, Melissa (Danny) Bartoldus, Sean Ryan, Bethany Ryan, Brandon (Alisha) Dvorak, Heather Dvorak, Jesse (Gwen) Klein, Travis Klein, Chad Klein and Kristin (Collin) Birch; six great grandchildren, Dylan, Araya, Harper, Easton, Sarah and David; in-laws and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, infant son Richard Dvorak, her siblings Eugene, Victor, Victoria, Douglas and Jo Ann, and step-son Gary Klein.
