David Anthony Brenneman Sr. 73, of Iowa City, lost his courageous battle with cancer on Sunday March 11, 2018 at his home surrounded by family.

Dave was a loyal friend, a staunch defender if you needed defending, and he loved his family, friends and clients. Every night he was down on his knees praying for the health of those he knew were sick or suffering and that included some of his cruise clients he hadn’t seen in ten years. He prayed for his family and friends before he would pray for himself, and his prayers often worked. Dave was told he only had six months to live and that was four years ago. His faith sustained him. It was his core. If he could, he would share it with all of you, but he knows our paths are different, although they all lead to the same home. If you knew Dave, you can imagine him up above greeting God like an old friend, basking in his love, and visiting with family he hasn’t seen in a long time. Now he has all the time in eternity and a heaven filled with friends.

David attended Oskaloosa Senior High School, Washburn University, served in the U.S. Air Force, and spent much his adult life in the travel business, working for Cruises and Tours by Brennco in Kansas City.

Dave leaves behind his son, David Brenneman, Jr. (Sandy); his daughter Brandy Boswell (Jason); his grandchildren: Becca, James, Joshua, Sara Brenneman; Cole and Melody Boswell; Curtis Bolinger (Melissa), JL Matthew Bolinger (Veronica); his great granddaughter, Zoey Bolinger; brothers Jim Brenneman(Mary), Robert Brenneman, Phillip Brenneman(Marilyn), and Patrick Brenneman(Dawn); and sisters, Mary Brenneman-Kiernan(Brian) and Rebecca Schulz(Rick); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Carole Brenneman, his parents Del and Dorothy Brenneman, his brother Terry Brenneman, and nephew Jeremy Brenneman.

He sends a special thank you to his medical team at the Iowa City VA, his hospice team, and his caregivers, Sandy and David.

A dual celebration of life for both Dave and his wife Carole who passed this last November, will be held Saturday April 21, 2018 from 12:00 to 4:00 pm at the Iowa City Moose Lodge and Family Center, 3151 US-6 SE, Iowa City, IA, 52240

A memorial fund has been established, in both of their names (to help with funeral and medical expenses) at Veridian Credit Union, 812 1st Ave, Iowa City, IA, 52245
