Bob Goldesberry

Bob Goldesberry of Conesville, Iowa, passed away on January 23, 2018, at University Hospital in Iowa City after living with cancer for a short period of time. All friends and relatives are invited to visitation with the family on Thursday, February 1st, 5 to 8 PM, United Presbyterian Church, Columbus Junction, Iowa.

Bob was born August 4, 1950, in lowa City to Carmen (Hamilton) and Robert Goldesberry Sr. Most of his childhood was spent in Conesville and he graduated from Columbus Community High School in 1970. He lived a most interesting life full of changes and varied experiences. In the late 1980s, Bob graduated with honors from Muscatine Community College and then attended Marycrest University in Davenport, Iowa.

Bob was gainfully employed from the age of six and held many types of jobs throughout his life. His favorite was growing cantaloupe and watermelon. His last employment was with Pearson for 17 years as· an Image Edit Specialist.

He loved living on Pike Run Creek where he could be inspired by nature every day. Bob's
relationship with his Higher Power was the most important thing in his life. He spent the last 30 years being of service to others.

Bob was united in holy matrimony with Jill Carson on November 28, 1975. He is survived by his wife and their son, Jason Thor, also of Conesville. Also missing Bob are his mother-in-law, Wanda Carson of Columbus Junction, and brothers-in-law Jim Carson (Susan McCall) of Springfield, Missouri, and Jerry Carson (Kimberly), Columbus Junction. Bob's surviving siblings are: Lee Goldesberry (Linda), Racine, Wisconsin; Jeanne Bozarth (Gary), Muscatine, Iowa; Daisy Matthews (Duane Atwood), Sigourney, Iowa; Donald Goldesberry (Gwen), Yreka, California; and Kerry Goldesberry, Mount Vernon, Indiana. His extended family includes an uncle, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Catherine Davis.

Bob received a lung transplant in August 2016. The family expresses their deepest gratitude to every member of the lung transplant team at University Hospital in Iowa City and to all the angels on seventh floor RSCCU.

Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City is assisting the family with arrangements. A private memorial service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Uptown Bills Coffee House & Neighborhood Arts Center; 730 S. Dubuque St., Iowa City IA 52240, or given to the family for disbursement to other organizations of importance to Bob.
