Sallie Shaffer, 86, died peacefully Thursday, September 21st at Windmill Manor.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 24th from 1 to 3 PM at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with the time and date to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name.
Sallie was born October 24, 1930 in Pennsylvania, the daughter of Dr. Walter Scott and Lois Dugan Neff. On April 2, 1955 Sallie married Delmar “Hap” Shaffer in Virginia, MN.
Sallie was employed at the University of Iowa in Financial Management, retiring in 1995. Prior to that she was employed with Proctor and Gamble.
Most important to Sallie was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and their bunnies. She enjoyed time spent knitting and watching the St. Louis Cardinals, the Minnesota Vikings and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
She was member of the Sharon Center United Methodist Church, where she was a choir member and a member of the Methodist Women. She enjoyed the Sharon Center 4th of July parades.
Sallie is survived by three children, Doug (Sandy) Shaffer of Kalona, Jeanette Shaffer of Riverside and Karen (Mike) Dinnel of Iowa City; 10 grandchildren, Danielle, Dustin, Jon, Stephanie, Rhonda, Deshawn, Ashleigh, Felicia, Amber and Haleigh; 14 great grandchildren; 3 great- great grandchildren; five siblings, Deb Klein of Cedar Rapids, Kathy Neff, Robert Neff, David Neff and Scott Neff.
Sallie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one great grandson, Lincoln.
