In l985 I was given box of old 3x5 cards found
in the old Fairfield Library. I typed the data
into a booklet entitled : Newspaper Death Notices
1847 - l872 and sold thru the Iowa Genealogical
Society.

Alphabetical listing jumps from CARPENTER, Rev. Cyrus paper of 30 May 1867 page 3 col 5
to: CASE, Adam paper of 19 Dec 1872 pg 3 col 3

So that was a dead end BUT........I also typed
in 1988 Newspaper Legal Notices l847 - 1868 so
I peeked in that booklet and was dumbfounded
there was no Carter but alphabetical next name was
" Casady, Martin Fairfield "Ledger" newspaper

of 12 Jan 1854 pg 2 col l

arrested for murder of Samuel Carter, resident

of Walnut township. Left widow and children

......drinking "

I will write again tomorrow on this same
query spot
