family changes

WILKINS, VAN PATTEN, SIMPSON

In 1897 my double great uncle, Nelson Simpson married Ada M Wilkins Van Patten who was a widow with 2 children. By 1900 something had changed within the family. Ada was living in Denver in
June of 1900 and her son was living in Fairfield with his grandparents and her daughters whereabouts is unknown. Ada died in November of 1900 and is buried in Fairfield as a Van Patten with no mention of her marriage to Nelson. I looking for any information about Nelson or Ada that would help explain what happened. I cannot find Nelson in the 1900 census. His family was from Mahaska County, Iowa and his marriage document lists him as a clerk. In 1895 he was living in Black Hawk, 10 miles from Fairfield. Thanks Bill
