Gordon Dale OLIVER was born March 11, 1957, in Fairfield, Iowa, to Brace and Rose BARTHOLOMEW OLIVER. His early years were spent growing up on the family farm near Libertyville and attending school in Fairfield. Gordon entered the workforce at an early age beginning his career with the BNSF Railroad on Sept. 4, 1975. That same year he married Tammy WARREN and together they became the loving parents of five children: Paul, Leanne, Traci, Dennis and Melonie. On July 4, 2008, at the Oliver Family Farm, Gordon married Pamela BYWALEC. Their relationship was rooted in their faith, and their love for each other and their family. Gordon spent his entire life working for the railroad and worked about every position that they had available until most recently working as the Maintenance of Way Foreman. This 46-year career allowed him to have many great experiences, such as working on the Old Hwy 34 railroad bridge with his dad, Brace, a memory he never forgot and always loved to share. Gordon made many friends and the people he worked with became family. He was even affectionately given the nickname "Two Scoops" by those who knew him best. Gordon loved his family and enjoyed spending time together whenever he had the chance. His faith led him to become a Pastor at the Jesus Is the Answer Fellowship in Ottumwa, Iowa, as well as helping as Pastor at the Way of Peace. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing or traveling with Pamela to Door County, Wis. Gordon was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, pastor and friend who will be missed by his family and the many friends he made along the way.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Brace and Rose OLIVER.

Left to share his story is his loving wife, Pamela OLIVER of Stockport, Iowa; five children, Paul (Katherine) OLIVER of Tipton, Iowa, Leanne (Guy) POSIELENZNY of Arbor Vitae, Wis., Traci (Chris) ADKINS of Libertyville,Iowa, Dennis (DeeDee) OLIVER of Princeton, Ill., and Melonie OLIVER (Alex Eggers) of Fairfield, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Madyson, Chloe, Olivia, Drake, Logan, Hannah, Delilah, Hunter and Charlie; two siblings, Ed (Trudy) OLIVER and Karen PRIDEAUX (Curt Stuckel), as well as being loved by his railroad family and his church family at both the Jesus is the Answer Fellowship and the Way of Peace Ministries, and many extended family and friends.
