KATHLEEN "KATHY" ADAM DAVIS
Enterprise, AL

Kathleen "Kathy" ADAM DAVIS, 71, of Enterprise, AL, passed away on August 30, 2021, in Nicevile, FL.

Kathy was born on August 24, 1950, in Fairfield, IA, to Richard ADAM and Marlys BECHEN ADAM. The second of seven children, Kathy was raised on the family farm near Packwood, IA, where she helped out with farm chores and took care of her younger siblings. Kathy graduated from Pekin High School in 1968. She married her high school sweetheart, John Packard "Packy" DAVIS, of Fairfield, IA, on April 17, 1971.

Kathy attended Iowa State University but left ISU when her husband, an Army Chief Warrant Officer, was sent to Alabama for basic training. As a result of her husband's career, Kathy lived in Honolulu, HI, and Savannah, GA, before finally settling in Enterprise, AL.

During her time in Hawaii, Kathy enjoyed working for Honolulu Friends of the Library while her husband was deployed to Vietnam. While in Hawaii, Kathy resumed her college studies, ultimately receiving a bachelor's degree in English from Hawaii Pacific University. She later went on to receive a master's degree in marketing.

Upon returning to Alabama, Kathy worked in marketing and administration for several colleges, spending most of her career at Wallace Community College in Dothan, AL. Kathy was proud of her efforts to encourage high school graduates to enroll in vocational programs, with a particular emphasis on aviation-related careers. On behalf of her school, Kathy traveled to schools and air shows across the U.S., showcasing careers related to the aviation industry.

Kathy was an avid runner and cyclist, participating in dozens of races over the years. She ran the Honolulu Marathon while living in Hawaii and enjoyed riding RAGBRAI with her brother Doug's crew "Team Lizard." Kathy loved visiting her family in Iowa, as well as her cousins and other relatives in Arizona. She enjoyed working in her garden and she was most proud of her knock-out roses and lilies. When she wasn't outside being active, she enjoyed reading. Kathy and her husband John retired to Niceville and Kathy split her time between the Florida and Alabama homes. Together, they enjoyed golfing and sailing.

Kathy is survived by five siblings, Suzanne KELLY of Huntington Beach, CA, Nancy HORRAS (and husband Jim) of Fairfield, IA, Shirley SMITH (and husband Dan) of Westport, CT, Dean ADAM (and wife Cheryl) of Batavia, IA, and Doug ADAM (and wife Michelle) of Packwood, IA; as well as many nieces and nephews, of whom she was very proud!

Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, John DAVIS; a stillborn son, John DAVIS Jr.; her parents; her older brother, David ADAM (and wife Cathy); two nephews; and a brother-in-law, Robert KELLY.

Davis Watkins Funeral Home in Fort Walton Beach, FL, is in charge of arrangements. Kathy will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery with her beloved husband, John. A memorial service will be held in Fairfield, IA, at a future date.
