Illness Fatal To DROZ

John Francis DROZ, 62, Fairfield attorney, died Friday at 11:25 a.m. at the Fairfield Convalescent Home after a long illness.

DROZ resided at 707 S. Main St. He entered the Convalescent Home last Tuesday.

Services will be held Monday at 9 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in charge of Father Cletus P. Madsen. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Prayers for a Christian Wake will be recited Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home.

DROZ was born Aug. 24, 1906 in Fairfield, the son of Francis M. and Elizabeth McNAMARA DROZ. He was reared and educated in Fairfield. He attended Creighton University for two years and graduated cum laude from Georgetown University, Washington, D.C. He received his law degree from Harvard.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy with the rank of lieutenant commander. He also served on the National Labor Relations Board in Chicago for several years following the war.

DROZ had practiced law in Fairfield since 195_ (image faded - 1953?). He was first associated with the late R. C. Leggett. Since 1957 he had conducted his own practice. He also served as city attorney for a time.

DROZ was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge and the Fairfield Golf and Country Club. He is survived by several cousins. One infant sister preceded him in death.

NOTICE OF PROBATE OF WILL OF APPOINTMENT OF EXECUTOR, AND NOTICE TO CREDITORS

In The District Court Of The State Of Iowa In And For Jefferson County

In The Matter Of The Estate Of John F. DROZ, Deceased.

To All Persons Interested In The Estate of John F. DROZ Deceased:

You are hereby notified that on the 8th day of July, 1969, the Last Will and Testament of John F. DROZ deceased bearing date of the 17th day of July, 1967, and Codicil dated the 5th day of July, 1968, was admitted to probate in the above named Court and that the Iowa State Bank and Trust company of Fairfield, Iowa was appointed executor of said estate.

Notice is further given that any action to set aside said Will must be brought in the District Court of said County within one year from the date of the second publication of this notice, or thereafter be forever barred.

Notice is further given that all persons indebted to said estate are requested to make immediate payment to the undersigned and creditors having claims against said estate shall file them with the Clerk of the above named District Court, as provided by law, duly authenticated, for allowance; and unless so filed within six months from the second publication of this notice (unless otherwise allowed or paid) such claim shall thereafter be forever barred.
