DAVID PHILIPS
Keosauqua

A memorial celebration of life will be held at the Lodge at Lacey Keosauqua Park on Saturday, May 29, from noon to 3 p.m. Please join family and friends as we get together to celebrate David PHILIPS who passed away on Nov. 9, 2020. In keeping with how Dave would have liked, this will be a casual (no somber suits!) event sharing memories and gathering together. Light snacks will be available.

David L. PHILIPS passed away Nov. 9, 2020, at Cox Medical Center in Springfield, Mo. He lived on an acreage near Billings, Mo. He was born in Fairfield, Iowa, on Nov. 8, 1959, to Peggy (MROGENSKI) and Larry PHILIPS. He grew up Van Buren County, Iowa, helping his parents on the farm. He later attended Indian Hills Community College obtaining his associate degree. He started his career as a diesel mechanic but developed himself through various roles in project management and sales in the power generation industry, most recently working for Peaker Services as a regional sales manager. He was well known nationally in the industry having developed long term relationships with peers in this field.

Dave absolutely loved to hunt, passing on this love to Brandon and Travis. He spent many years hunting deer, pheasants and wild turkeys with these two. He also enjoyed many hunting elk and trout fishing excursions with brother-in-law Jeff NACHINICKY. After moving to Missouri, he and his neighbor Sam Brown spent many hours hunting deer and turkeys. To son Corey, he passed on his love of making and fixing things. They spent hours working alongside each other on various projects. He also loved to travel, which suited him well in his career as well as enjoying many trips with his wife and family. This past February, Joni and Dave traveled to Hawaii to celebrate their 26th anniversary. Like his mother Peggy PHILIPS, he loved everything NASCAR as well.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Peggy PHILIPS.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne (aka Joni) PHILIPS; sons, Corey PHILIPS (Leigha) and Brandon PHILIPS; and stepson, Travis (Julie) ALBERT; brothers, Dennis (Sondra) PHILIPS and Daniel (Wauneta) PHILIPS; and sisters, Deborah SYFERT and Penny (Terry) DOLBERG. He loved and adored his seven grandchildren, Gwen, Avery, Dierks, Crosby and Chandler PHILIPS and Kennadi and Remingtin ALBERT.

His smile, his sparkling brown eyes, his sense of humor and love of family will be truly missed.
