Libertyville man killed in motorcycle accident

A Libertyville man was killed and a woman was injured in a motorcycle accident just after 11 p.m. Saturday on Libertyville Road.

According to information provided by the Jefferson County Attorney Office, at approximately 11:08 p.m. Saturday, the Jefferson County Law Center was contacted via 911 for a motorcycle accident in the 1900 block of Libertyville Road.

Upon the arrival of Jefferson County Sheriff's Office deputies on the scene, it was discovered that David Franklin DUNCAN Jr., 54, of Libertyville was deceased on the scene.

DUNCAN's passenger, Judy Rusk, was airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City with serious injuries. No other information is available about Rusk.

Jefferson County Sheriff Greg Morton said it appears the driver lost control of the Harley-Davidson and the motorcycle went into the ditch. The investigation continues.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Fairfield Police Department and Iowa State Patrol also assisted in the investigation.

Funeral arrangements for DUNCAN are pending at Behner Funeral Home.

David Franklin DUNCAN Jr. age 54, of Libertyville, passed Saturday, October 27, 2018, due to injuries from an accident.

Visitation for family & friends will be 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 am, November 3, 2018, at Faith Baptist Church. Memorial service will follow at 11:00 am with Pastor Philip Cressey officiating.

Burial of cremains will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family and mailed to 216 Park Ave., Muscatine, IA 52761.

David was born September 19, 1964, to David Franklin and Cora Bessie (STEWART) DUNCAN Sr. in Burlington, IA. He married Deborah MAECHE on December 17, 1989, and they later divorced.

David worked as a farm hand for the Porter Brothers. He loved riding and working on his motorcycle. David was a hard worker. He lived most of his life in the Fairfield area.

Left to share David's memories are his two children, Lindsey RAMIREZ and David F. DUNCAN III both of Muscatine, IA; two grandchildren, Alliannah DUNCAN and Dawson RAMIREZ; his parents David and Cora DUNCAN Sr. of Fairfield, IA; his siblings, Terry (Tim) DIXON and Nancy (David) OLIVER both of Fairfield, IA and Linda (Gordon) BROWN of Montrose, IA; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Philip DUNCAN.
