Mrs. VORHIES Rites Thursday

LOCKRIDGE -- Mrs. Emma VORHIES, 81, lifetime resident of the Lockridge community, died Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the Jefferson County Hospital.

Last rites will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert McElderry officiating. Burial will be in New Sweden Methodist Cemetery west of Four Corners.

Mrs. VORHIES was born Feb. 16, 1890 at Lockridge, the daughter of Nicholas and Amanda PEARSON JOHNSON. She was married to Marshall A. VORHIES Feb. 16, 1911. He died Jan. 12, 1919.

Mrs. VORHIES was a member of the New Sweden United Methodist Church. She is survived by five sons: Clarence and Grant of Lockridge; Harold and George of Fairfield; and Lester of San Bernadino (sic), Calif.

Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Frank and George JOHNSON, both of Lockridge; Mrs. Clarence (note - Ellen S.) BOOS, Ottumwa; and Mrs. Earl (note - Esther) TURNER, Burlington.

One brother and one sister are deceased.
