Rites at Richland for Wendell PFEIFER

RICHLAND -- Wendell Jacob PFEIFER, 80, retired carpenter and painter, died at 3 p.m. Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Francis FELTZ in Keota (note: in Keokuk Co., IA). He had been in failing health for several years.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 2 p.m. in the Richland Friends church with Rev. D. B. Weintz of Rubio in charge. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Gould funeral home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. PFEIFER was born Oct. 27, 1874 in Clear Creek township near Keota. He was married in January of 1896 to Amelia FRANK who died Jan. 19, 1948.

He had spent most of his life in the Valley community before moving to Rubio in 1948.

Survivors include three sons: Otto W. of Richland, Clark of Ainsworth and Doyle of Columbus Junction; three daughters, Mrs. FELTZ of Keota, Mrs. C. J. ZEAR of Richland and Mrs. Gilbert HOTLE of Cedar Rapids.

Also three step-sisters and five step-brothers: John POHREN of Keota, Vincent POHREN of Pleasant Plain, Christ POHREN of Brighton, Pete and Leo POHREN of Fairfield, Mrs. Christina KEINLEN of Burlington, Mrs. Lena BEKEL of Fairfield, Mrs. Margaret GRAF of Lockridge. Also 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. One daughter and one sister preceded him in death.
