Austin EMRY, Brighton, dies

BRIGHTON -- Austin "Pard" EMRY, 73, died Monday afternoon at Parkview Home in Wayland (note: in Henry Co., IA). He had been in failing health the last year-and-a-half.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton with the Rev. Robert Busher officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in E. Pleasant Plain. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

EMRY was born Nov. 29, 1909 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Fred and Mamie COPELAND EMRY. On Dec. 19, 1936 in E. Pleasant Plain, he married Olive STALDER, who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Delores NASH of Wentzville, Mo.; two sons, Fred and Jim, both of Brighton; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Five brothers preceded him in death.

A farmer most of his life, EMRY had farmed in the Brighton area and moved into town in 1963 when he retired. He had worked at Farmers Cashway Lumberyard, had been a mayor of Brighton, a city marshall and a justice of the peace.
