BrightonJeanette Darlene EDWARDS, 79, formerly of Brighton, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Sunrise of Raleigh in Raleigh, NC. She was born in Brighton, Iowa on August 7, 1938, to Ralph and Helen GREINER PEIFFER. She lived in Brighton nearly her entire life, before moving to The Villages, Florida in 2012 and then to Raleigh in 2016 until her passing.
She graduated from Brighton High School in 1956 and married Ronald Dean EDWARDS on June 10, 1957 in East Pleasant Plain, IA. Jeanette held several jobs before moving to Florida, including the Gamble Store in Brighton, the restaurant at the Washington Sale Barn, casher at numerous auctions with Dean and Eddie EDWARDS, along with helping Dean sell Pioneer Seed Corn for many years.
Jeanette loved attending Iowa football and basketball games, camping, golfing, dancing, attending the Iowa State Fair, and spending as much time as she could with her family. During her years in Brighton, she was an active member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Jeanette was a loving, cheerful and fun person, who always made people feel welcome and important. It's easy to picture Jeanette celebrating, dancing and laughing as she is whole again and reunited with Dean.
She is survived by her son Steve of Las Vegas, NV and his son Kyle, from Great Falls, MT. Her son Denny and his wife Cindy and their two sons Bryce and Drake, all from Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by her two brothers Glen PEIFFER of Santa Clarita, CA, Donald PEIFFER and his wife Judy of Ottumwa and several nieces and nephews. Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, parents and her sister, Elaine DRAP.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday June 2, 2017, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain with Rev. Louis J. Leonhardt officiating. Burial will be in Brighton Hillcrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials in Jeanette's memory may be left at the church or mailed to: Transitions Life Care, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607. Gould Funeral Home in Brighton is in charge of arrangements.
