HOWARD COFFIN
Cedar Rapids

Howard COFFIN, 74 of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2018, at his home. There will only be a small and private family gathering to celebrate his life.

Howard will be missed by his daughters: Stephanie COFFIN and spouse Steve WALLACE of Lockridge, Iowa; Paige NANCE and spouse Craig NANCE of Fayetteville, North Carolina; Courtney COLBY and Thom COLBY of Austin, Texas and Jacquelyn AHMED and Mohamed AHMED of Cedar Rapids. HIs grandchildren: Alex COFFIN; Sophie STRATTON; Lauren COLBY; Caroline COLBY, Scarlett BUNNELL, Sacha BUNNELL and Layla AHMED.

Howards siblings are: Jack JACOBS; Francis COFFIN; James COFFIN; Daniel COFFIN and one sister, Linda FITZGERALD. He is preceded in death by his brother, Gary COFFIN. Howard was born on August 19, 1943, to Jasper Raymond COFFIN and Nona (Pauline) POPE COFFIN at the family home in Pulaski.

Howard graduated from high school in Birmingham, Iowa and then worked and spent most of his life in Fairfield, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Sharon JAMES in December of 1961 in Fairfield, Iowa, they were blessed with four daughters, the couple later divorced in 1988.

Howard spent the majority of his career as a salesman mostly selling vacuums. He also worked for Perry Clothing previously of Fairfield, Iowa and later sold vitamin supplements via telephone.

Howard was known best for his sense of humor and ability to make others laugh; he was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan as well as the Iowa Hawkeyes. He spent years coaching Babe Ruth baseball in Fairfield, Iowa. Howard also really enjoyed reading Louis L'amour western novels.

He was a proud and loving "grandpa" to his grandkids, and was delighted to spend his most recent years living with family and watching the kids grow. Memorials may be directed to the family.
