Lorri SIMMONS was a unique lady. She could be spotted around Fairfield in the early morning, driving her 1987 Plymouth Reliant station wagon, wearing those large rimmed glasses, Birkenstock sandals and of course, a sequined ball cap. She had many eccentricities, and wore them proudly wherever she ventured.

Lorri was born in her rural Packwood home on March 1, 1936. She married J.R. "Dick" SIMMONS 18 years later and they were happily married for over sixty years, before Dick passed in July of 2015.

Lorri had may passions throughout her life including but not limited to quilting, painting, gardening, scrapbooking, baking, and democratic p olitics (sic). Above all else, her passion was her family. For over twenty years she was an unwavering champion of her husband in his career as a supervisor in Jefferson County. She supported each of her four children in their careers in public service, and never missed an opportunity to celebrate her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Lorri was preceded in death by her parents, Snowden & Freda (CARR) WYKOFF, her husband, J.R. "Dick" SIMMONS, her sister, Darlene JOHNSON of California, and her brother, Carroll WYCKOFF of Des Moines.

She is survived by two sisters, Kay EHRHARDT of Fairfield and Marty JONES of California, four children, Tim SIMMONS of Fairfield, Dee Ann (Ray) LEHN of Fairfield, Perry (Phyllis) SIMMONS of Ankeny, and Tom (Carolyn) SIMMONS of Fairfield, as well as five grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Hospice serving Davis and Wapello Counties, or Antioch Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to Dee Ann LEHN at 1347 Mahogany Avenue, Fairfield, Iowa 52556.
