Linder Dies Unexpectedly
Robert A. Linder, 72, fell dead Thursday afternoon after alighting from a bus in the east part of town, while on his way to visit a daughter, Mrs. Charles Drew. Coroner Ralph Toland attributed his death to a heart attack. He had been in failing health since his retirement around five years ago.
Mr. Linder, third child in a large family of Robert and Rachel Linder, was born at Baxter. Accompanied by a brother, he went to northern Minnesota after the parents died, and returned to Jasper county around 37 years ago.
On April 30, 1904, he married Sarah Ann Reynolds, who survives.
He was employed at the Maytag company for 18 years and was a member of the First Methodist church and Knights of Pythias.
Surviving relatives in addition to his wife, are three children, J. Arthur, Mrs. George (Marie) Conn and Mrs. Charles (Nadine) Drew, and four grandchildren, George, aviation cadet in the Naval air corps, Bobby, Mickey and Karen Sue Drew, and a brother, E. A. Linder, of Warroad, Minn.
The funeral services will be held at the Murdoch Funeral home Saturday afternoon at four o’clock with Dr. E. P. Gabriel and the Rev. W. H. Blancke in charge of the service.
Interment will be in the Newton Union cemetery.
