Des Moines – Donald I. Terrell Jr., 45, 1610 S. E. 2nd St., Des Moines, 50316, a former longtime resident of Newton, died of cancer Monday, Feb. 19, at his residence.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton.
The Rev. Frederick Kramer, Skiff Medical Center chaplain, will conduct services.
Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday one hour prior to services at which time the family will be present.
Memorials’ to mercy Hospital Hospice Care will be accepted.
Survivors are his wife, Kimberly Kay; two sons, Dylan Patrick of Des Moines and Austin Ryder of Waukee; a step-son, Zacory Spencer mason of Des Moines; and two daughters, Emily Susan Terrell and Hillary Michelle Terrell, both of Des Miens.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Iver Terrell Sr., a sister, Donna Jean Sims and his step-mother, Maxine Terrell.
Mr. Terrell served in combat with the Marines in Vietnam where he was wounded ad awarded the Purple Heart.
He was assistant manager at Earl May in Des Moines and was a registered nurse at Fleur Heights Health Care Center in Des Moines.
He was born July 1, 1950 in Chariton and was a graduate of Newton Community High School.
He attended Des Moines Area Community College for two years, specializing in horticulture, and was a three-year graduate of the mercy Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1993 as a registered nurse.
He was a member of the Clifton Heights Presbyterian Church.
He had resided in Des Moines for 20 years.
He was married to Kimberly Kay Waldo Jan. 11, 1995, in Des Moines.
