Lynnville – Lee Starr, son of Benson and Ellen Squires Starr was born near Searsboro, Ia., April 30, 1872 and died suddenly July 27, 1935 at the home of Robert Stufflebeam, Lynnville, Iowa, his near neighbor, where he had been cared for during his most recent illness, aged 63 years.
When eight years old he moved with is parents to the Starr farm south of Lynnville.
In 1894 he moved to Villisca, Ia., living there nine years, then moved to Council Buffs where he spent his married life. In 1923 he came to Lynnville to care for his aged father after whose death he tenderly cared for his mother and brother until their passing in 1932.
He was preceded in death by his wife and four children, his father, mother, one sister and two brothers and is survived by two nieces, Mary Peters Goodman, of Plentywood, Mont., and Paraiso Peters Hipsley of California; five nephews, Harold Starr of California, Earl Starr of Gilman, Ernest, James and Forest Peters, all of Billings, Mont.
Funeral services were held at the Friends church, Tuesday afternoon, July 30, conducted by the Rev. Verne Butler of Sully, Iowa.
Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Mrs. Charles Wagaman, Mrs. Will Allee, C. H. Potter and A. T. Gifford with Mrs. Gifford at the piano.
The pallbearers were John Wisgerhof, A. L. Renaud, Roy Sparks, Cecil Gertsma, Homer Jay and Cal Trease. Interment was at the Swan cemetery.
Those who attended from out-of-town, were Mr. Ben Squires and Mr. Charlie Squires of Lancaster, Mo., Rev. and Mrs. Ernest Starr of Dubuque, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew McDonnough and Mr. and Mrs. Cascious McDonnough of Grinnell, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Starr and two children and Mr. and Mrs. William Bringleson and daughter, Doris of Gilman, Mrs. Freda Parsons and Mrs. Flora B. Stafford of Des Moines, Ross Mowry and daughter, Virginia of Newton, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Van Zante and Mrs. Clarence Strovers, Paul and Junior of Grinnell.
