Sandra Kay Rigby
March 16, 1944 - July 3, 2026

Sandra Kay Rigby, age 82, of Monroe, Iowa, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026. Per Sandy's wishes, no services will be held. If you wish to send a card, please address it to Coburn Funeral Home, 24 W Howard St, Colfax, IA 50054.

Sandy was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa on March 16, 1944. The daughter of Harold and Gladys (Gezel) Gleason, she grew up in New Sharon, Iowa. She worked various jobs, including Amana, the Newton Paper Company, the Newton Hospital, and Maytag. When Sandy was home, she took joy in being a housewife; sewing, gardening, canning, and then making meals out of what she grew. Nearly every week, she made chocolate chip cookies for her kids. In 1996, she married Ron Rigby and they later moved to Monroe. Her and Ron made close friends with their neighbors, and Sandy always had food to share.

Sandy cared greatly for her family, including her cats. Although the cats would miss her, she spent her free time traveling wherever and whenever she could. Her and Ron took many camping trips and loved traveling to her favorite spot, South Padre Island, where she could spend afternoons walking the beach. Sandy loved the life that she shared with her friends and family, and she will be missed.

Those left to remember Sandy include her husband of thirty years, Ron Rigby; her two children, Rick (Dawn) Oldfield and Suzanne (Fred) Bancroft; five grandchildren; and special friends, Doug and Sandy Klein, as well as Juan Wheeler.

Sandy is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Gladys Gleason.
