Funeral Services Tuesday At Union For Lela Maxwell
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Community Church in Union for Mrs. Lela L. Maxwell, 59, who died Saturday morning at the Evangelical Hospital in Marshalltown.
The Rev. Preston Hinderks will officiate. Mrs. Edwin Biershorn will be the organist, and Mr. and Mrs. Neil Martin the vocalists.
Pallbearers will be Earl Evans, Kenneth Clark, Russell Nelsohn, Delbert Deaton, Robert Brink and Ben Clark. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery near Maxwell, Ia. The Biersborn Funeral Home of Union is handling funeral arrangements.
Lela Lipcretia Maxwell, the daughter of Jess and Georgia Clark, was born July 27, 1907 at Adelphi, Ia. On Mmarch 22, 1926, she was married to Henry A. Maxwell at Mingo, Ia.
A graduate of Mingo high school, Mrs. Maxwell attended Iowa State College and at the age of 50 attended beauty school and graduated. She lived most of her life in jasper and Story counties before moving to Union in 1960 where she operated a beauty salon. She was a member of the Community Church in Union.
Surviving are one son, Charles Henry Maxwell of Hubbard; two daughters, Mrs. Marion (Joyce) Fitz of LaCrosse, Kans., and Mrs. Lyman (Lois Ann) Rule of Eldora; 12 grandchildren; two brothers, Gailord C. Clark of Collins and Glen L. Clark of Nevada; and one sister, Mrs. Elmer Haley of Maxwell.
Preceding her in death were her parents and infant twin sons.
