R. J. Beals Dies at 80
Baxter, Ia. - Richard Jacob Beals, 80-year-old retired farmer, died this morning at his home in Baxter.
Funeral services had not been arranged at noon today.
Richard Beals, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Beals, was born May 4, 1860, at Hickson Grove, Ia., and had lived the past 60 years in Jasper county. He was married to Clara Jeffreys on Dec. 25, 1884 and to this union were born 13 children.
Three children preceded him in death. They were Dale who died in 1931, Marie and Sam who died in infancy.
Surviving are his wife and ten children: Mrs. Gertrude Cross of Baxter, Mrs. Amy Morris of Minnesota Mrs. Minnie Dodd of Des Moines, Mrs. Dottie Long of Des Moines, Mrs. Fay Bantelle of Marshalltown, Mrs. Orva Shienkle of St Anthony, Mrs. Bernice Von Hagen, Jay of Ira, Stanley of near Collins and Donald of Ira.
Also surviving are two brothers Sam of Mingo and Ira of Canada and four sisters, Mrs. Stella Gibson of Baxter, Mrs. Jennie Hunt of Des Moines, Mrs. Elva Fuller of Baxter and Mrs. Mae Inglis of Mingo.
