Herman Harter Dies Wednesday; Rites at Colfax
Kellogg – Herman Harter, 77, of Kellogg, a resident of Colfax the majority of his life, died Wednesday at the Community Hospital in Grinnell.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Walters Funeral Home in Colfax.
Survivors are his wife, Grace; a daughter, Mrs. Violet Ruth Brown of Colfax; a son, Robert E. Harter of Minneapolis, Minn.; two step-children, Mrs. Paul Rinehart of Newton and Loren Meeks of Newton; a grandchild; five step-grandchildren; and two brothers, Joseph Harter of Kellogg and James Edward Harter of Des Moines.
Mr. Harter was born Nov. 22, 1887 at Audubon and was married to Grace Eva Meeks June 16, 1945 at Newton.
A retired mechanic, he resided most of his life in Colfax moving to Kellogg 9 years ago.
